I'm Here

I am in the blog and ready to get the ball rolling. I have a large selection of graphic novels to give away. This would be great for our program for door prizes and giveaways

Children's Festival Authors

Hey guys. I was looking at the TLA website, and it looks like they won't post the authors who will be there until Feb. 2009. Didn't Rose say there's someone we can contact to find out who's going to be at TLA?

I thought maybe we could brainstorm a list of authors who we'd like to get.
I was thinking maybe the brother and sister (or one of the two) who writes the Babymouse graphic novel would be good. Here's the website with contact info for Jennifer Holm: http://www.jenniferholm.com/01_aboutme/01_overview.html
and Matthew Holm: http://www.matthewholm.net/

later!

Scope of Assignments

Greetings, all! I just wanted to share that I'll be glad to work on both projects: look forward to getting my assignments. Here are some tasks that I could fulfill pretty easily:

-writing invitation letters to authors for the children's festival
-requesting 'in-kind' donations for the Head Start Literacy Kits
-word processing/design of training materials for the Head Start Literacy Kits

That's it for now, peace.

Welcome HPL IMLS Scholars... and friends....

This is the make-shift blog for the Houston Public Library - IMLS Scholar's Blog.

In this blog we can keep track of current projects as well as an any questions that may come about.

Anticipated Projects (as discussed in Salt Lake City)

  • Children's Festival @ HPL
  • Kits for Headstart Centers

In order to fully comply with our scholarship requirements we have brainstormed a bit in Salt Lake City. The above listed ideas were a result of our compiled comments. As a whole the projects should be completed with paperwork submitted by May 2009, which means we should begin thinking about what to do.... Time to go... more updates later.
